Fred Wu 吴超伟

I am Fred Wu, with a preference in recommendation system job in industry. I have a quite good English ability in reading, speaking, listenning and writing(TOEFL-ibt 97 in 2019, GRE 325+3.5 in 2019 and Shanghai Advanced Interpreter Certificate in 2016).

I designed recommendation system for short video in Mongo TV , including data pipeline engineering, model training, server engine development, during 2019-2020, as a full-stack engineer. Working experience here was quite a challenge. I had to care about everything that would have an effect on custermer experience, including data pipeline quality, recall video quality, ranking system quality and recommendation system delay. All modules in recommendation system were working together and to provide a good service to custermer.

During 2018-2019, I visited UIUC and prepared to apply for graduate school. I had failed to get F1 Visa from USA because of the very trade war during 2019-2020(?). As a result of that, I had no means but to quit a full-schorlarship opportunity to pursuit for Ph.D degree.

I practiced algorithm optimization and machine learning in HEHE Tech. during 2017-2018, as a data engineer, mining millions pieces of user portraits, developing robust code and preparing patent paper.

My first employer, SHANGHAI ELETRIC, hired me as a MECHANIC ENGINEER during 2014-2017. Ansaldo Energia S.p.A provided a three-month engineering training in Italy to me then, which focused on industrial data analysis and engineering design.

I got a BS degree and a MS degree in thermal energy in 2011 (Central Sounth University of Forestry and Technology) and 2014 respectively(Zhejiang University). During graduate school time, I studied Intelligence Insdustry Systems under the supervision of Prof. Wai Zhong. I am taking computer science courses from Georgia Institute of Technology online from 2020 on.
